Justgiving- fundraising made easy

Kenya Acorn Project has received funding from AMREF to start more activities in HIV and AIDS. The funding is part of the "Maanisha" program. The goal of this program is to build the capacity of organisations directly involved with HIV/AIDS care or education. With this funding KAP has already trained three counsellors for "voluntary counselling and testing (VCT)". The funding also made it possible to do education during the recent health day and organize a training for community health volunteers that are working together with KAP.

In the remaining months of 2006, KAP will use the AMREF funding to train more staff on HIV/AIDS, do more education, set up a Home Based Care system and improve the prevention of mother-to-child-transmission during deliveries.

Thanks to the AMREF funding we were able to open up a VCT-centre at the KAP hospital. The centre is using a temporarily building at the moment. We are still looking for funding to set up a permanent structure.
